What is Fairy Lights?

Fairy Lights is an illuminated garden experience which showcases our beautiful Italian Gardens, and the fairies that call them home, in a magical light. See the power of Zwara amplified as she casts a radiant beam of light across the darkness of the lake. Be amazed by the imposing giant dandelions as they rise high into the night sky. Wander beneath sparkling tree canopies and take a moment to reflect at the steps of hope adorned with flickering flames.
Complete your walk through our winter wonderland with a mulled wine or hot chocolate.* This relaxed, authentic and truly Trentham experience for all the family is a celebration of hope, positivity and light in times of darkness.

How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online at www.trentham.co.uk and at the Visitor Centre during normal opening hours from 10am on Tuesday 17 November. To comply with the government’s track and trace system we will need to take full contact details for the person making the booking, including name and email, at the time of purchase. Tickets will be available online up until the evening of entry, subject to availability.
Can we have our tickets sent out in the post?
To minimise contact, all tickets purchased online will be emailed to the email address provided at the time of sale and must be presented at the Gardens Entrance on a printed page or on a mobile phone, tablet or other device for electronic scanning. All members of the party should arrive together with one copy of the print at home ticket/s. We would recommend that tickets should be saved as a PDF or screenshot prior to arrival in case of poor phone signal. Customers arriving without a valid copy of their ticket/s will be refused entry.
Do carers accompanying disabled persons require a ticket?
Carers accompanying a registered disabled visitor will be granted access free of charge to the garden. Guests are eligible to apply for carer tickets if they receive one of the following:
Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Attendance Allowance (AA)
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
Blind Persons Registration.
Can I bring children?
Absolutely, Fairy Lights is suitable for children (and adults) of all ages! Concession tickets are available for children under 16 years of age and children under 3 years of age go free and don’t require a ticket. All children aged under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, aged 16 years and over.
Can I bring my dog to the experience?
With the exception of assistance dogs, dogs are not permitted into the gardens at night.
I’ve lost my tickets – what do I do?
Please email email@example.com with your booking reference number so that we can resend these to you.
Can I book tickets on the day?
Yes. Subject to availability you will be able to purchase tickets on the day (before 4pm) online or in the Visitor Centre.
I don’t have the internet and can’t get to the gardens to purchase tickets in person, can I email/phone?
If you are unable to purchase tickets online or via the Visitor Centre please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the number of tickets you require, for which date and a phone number we can reach you on and we will call you back to process your booking. Please note that due to volume of enquiries it can take us up to 48 hours to respond to emails and we cannot guarantee that tickets for the date you have requested will still be available at that time.
I’m an Annual Ticket Holder and I’ve purchased the wrong tickets by mistake – can I get a refund for the discount?
If you have purchased the wrong tickets please email email@example.com with your booking reference number and your contact details so we can help you.
I’m an Annual Ticket Holder but my pass expires before the 11 December. Can I still buy at the discounted rate?
Unfortunately not, as your Annual pass needs to valid on the date of your visit, not the date of your purchase.
What provision do you have for disabled guests?
The Fairy Lights trail has been designed to be as accessible as possible within the context of the Italian Gardens so the route is on hard-standing with flat paths. Accessible toilets are situated at the Gardens Entrance and also at the Tearooms. Due to COVID-19, we are unfortunately unable to hire out wheelchairs so visitors will need to bring their own mobility aids as required.
There are disabled parking spaces available in the main Trentham Estate car park, this is approximately a 300m walk to the Gardens Entrance.
Is Fairy Lights COVID-19 safe?
The Trentham Estate has been awarded the Good to Go certification by Visit England. This certification shows that we have implemented COVID-19 government guidance and put measures in place to ensure visitor and staff safety.
We ask that you respect all other visitors and members of staff when on-site and follow the government rule to not mix with other households. Please take note of the following measures in place for your visit:
• Test and Trace QR codes will be displayed at Gardens Entrance please register using the NHS app.
• Please follow the social distancing and government guidelines at all times.
• Face coverings are compulsory indoors and where 2m social distancing is not possible.
• There is a one-way system in place in the gardens
• To avoid unnecessary cash handling, we will only accept card payments.
• Hand sanitising stations are located throughout the gardens, but we also recommend bringing your own.
• All our facilities, surfaces and touch points will be cleaned regularly.
• We have a COVID-19 risk assessment in place and are taking all steps possible to keep you safe.
• Our staff are here to help, please respect them and their space whilst they assist you.
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your visit, you can transfer your ticket to a future visit/event or request a refund. In this situation, we will email you with full details of how to request a transfer or refund.
What happens if I have to self-isolate due to COVID-19?
If you have been instructed to isolate due to COVID-19 and are therefore unable to attend, we will do our best to accommodate you on another date once your isolation is complete (a minimum of 15 days after the start date of isolation). If another date is not available a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Proof may be required.
What time will the experience start?
Doors will open at 4.30pm and you are welcome to arrive anytime between then and 6pm on the evening you have booked. 6pm is the last entry time permitted as our fairy lights will be turned off at 7pm each night (fairies need their beauty sleep after all).
How long will the experience last?
The Fairy Lights trail is approximately 1km long, however, the length of time it takes to explore varies for each visitor. On average it takes 60 to 90 minutes to enjoy all the aspects of the trail.
What is the latest time I can arrive at the venue?
Entry to Fairy Lights will be permitted until 6pm, anyone arriving after this time will, unfortunately, be unable to access the gardens.
Will the experience go ahead even if it rains?
Fairy Lights will still go ahead in inclement weather conditions and will only be cancelled if the weather conditions present a danger at the time of your visit. Visitors accept the risk that weather they consider unsatisfactory may occur during your visit and acknowledge that tickets will not be exchanged or refunded unless the experience is cancelled by The Trentham Estate.
In the unlikely event your visit is cancelled, we will aim to give as much notice as possible, so please keep an eye out for information on the website and social media channels. If your Fairy Lights date is cancelled, you will be notified by email and offered an alternative date, if available, or a full refund.
What happens if the event has to be cancelled due to COVID-19?
If the experience has to be cancelled due to government restrictions or another situation relating to COVID-19 you will be notified by email and offered an alternative date, if available, or a full refund.
I can no longer attend the date I’ve booked, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds if the gardens are open as normal and you are unable to attend the experience with the exception of COVID-19 situations (please see the earlier answer on this). We may be able to transfer your booking across to another date, subject to availability. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with this request.
Are there toilet facilities?
Yes, toilets are located at the Gardens Entrance and also at the Tearooms. They are cleaned regularly throughout the day/evening with anti-viral spray. There are also additional hand sanitising facilities in the gardens.
What should I wear?
This is an outdoor winter experience, and there are no covered areas on the trail, so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and wrap up warm. The trail is lit, but lighting will be low level in some areas so you may wish to bring a torch. No naked flames (e.g. candles, night lights, flares or lanterns) are allowed.
Will food and drink be available on site?
A range of festive drinks and light bites will be available at the Tearooms throughout the evening, and there will be a sit-in option subject to government guidelines/restrictions. Please visit the Totally Delicious Tearooms website for further information or view the menu here.
Can I bring my own food/drink/alcohol?
Unfortunately, not. Fairy Lights is an illuminated trail around the gardens and therefore only the main paths and the structures/fairies will be lit. To minimise contact points, opportunities for crowds to gather and to ensure effective cleaning, the only areas to sit and eat/drink (subject to government restrictions) are around the Tearoom and these are for the consumption of their food and beverages only.
I’m visiting The Trentham Estate during the day, do I need to leave the gardens before entering Fairy Lights in the evening?
Yes. To ensure that only ticket holders for Fairy Lights have entry to the illuminated trail in the evening, daytime visitors must vacate the Garden at the closing time (4pm).
Can I take photographs?
Yes, you are welcome to take photographs and to share these on social media.
