It was with a heavy heart that we had to close access to Trentham Gardens on 23 March, due to COVID19. We hope you have all been keeping safe and well during this phase of the lockdown.

These are difficult times we are living through and we realise how important and beneficial visiting the estate is, particularly for our members. With the lifting of Government restrictions, we are working hard to implement – within a very limited timeframe – a new pre-booking arrival system, for members only for exercise only. WE ARE NOT OPEN AS USUAL. Please bear with us whilst we roll out new methods of working with limited staff and new technology. If you are a member with a valid membership card (not-expired) and have registered your email with us for updates, you will receive an email to invite you to book a pre-arrival slot in the week ahead. These emails will be issued on a staggered basis, from today until the 5th June. This will help us to support you through the registering and booking process, and to ensure that our facility does not get overwhelmed. Please read our phased reopening FAQs. It's great to see that Trentham Garden Centre and Cadwaladers have already reopened within Government guidelines and there will be a phased reopening of shops and cafes over the coming weeks and months.

There are several safety measures we have put in place but this is a new normal for us all and we appreciate your patience and kindness whilst we are adapting. Initially, we will restrict access to our existing members who will be allowed access for the purposes of exercise only. We have restricted capacity to help support social distancing and provide an environment to allow you to visit safely, and to safeguard our staff. This means that in the initial phase of reopening, members will receive an emailed invite to give access to the booking website, needed to pre-book an arrival time. These are being issued on a staggered basis over the coming week. There is a new numbered queuing system on arrival to support social distancing. We would ask that you please read the phased reopening FAQs relating to renewals and extension of membership, and email us with enquiries, rather than phoning or chatting at the desk. Although our welcome team have missed you, they will be focused on ensuring social distance is maintained and the smooth operation of contactless admissions only. Please read our updated terms and conditions of entry.

If your membership has expired whilst we have been closed, we will automatically extend your expiry date for the months you have lost. We will not issue a new card, but you cannot use your membership number to book a pre-arrival slot, until you have received a Reactivation of Membership email from us. This email will confirm your new expiry date. These will begin to be sent from 10th June - please be patient, as this is quite a complex task to undertake involving tens of thousands of memberships and we are working with limited staff and support from our ticketing providers. It's important we have an email linked to your membership to facilitate this, please register here.

Facilities will be restricted in the initial phase of reopening and the south entrance will remain closed. Hours of opening will be 9am – 6pm with last admission 5pm. Car parking spaces will be restricted. The play area, the maze, the show gardens, bird hides, the barefoot walk, boat, train and the viewing platform will all be closed. A one-way system will be operational, please check the new map before visiting. A separate exit route over the white bridge (by the Garden Centre) has been introduced.

The toilet facilities at the Garden Entrance, Tearoom and Lakeside Café will be open. Only one household group will be admitted at any one time. There is a socially distanced queuing system in place, each facility will be attended and cleaned constantly during our opening hours. Please wash your hands regularly.

In step one of the re-opening we must remind people not come to site if they have any symptoms, please do not gather, or meet any more than one other person, not from their household. Please do keep all dogs on a short lead. Opposite the main garden entrance Cadwalader’s are offering take away drinks and snacks. Within the garden attraction, Totally Delicious are operating the Tearoom Kiosk and Lakeside Café selling hot and cold drinks, Snugburys scoop ice cream, snacks and cakes. Card payments only. We have spaced outdoor tables and chairs for your use, but please ensure you use hand sanitiser if using these, or handrails and arm rests on benches. You are welcome to bring your own chair, food and drink to eat here, please help us by taking your litter home with you.

Thank you for your patience whilst we continue to implement new methods of working, reintroduce our staff and gently reopen the gardens in a manageable way during difficult times. Please do register your contact details to receive updates from us.

For now, please stay safe and be assured that we can’t wait to welcome you back.
