It was with a heavy heart that we had to close access to Trentham Gardens on 23 March, due to COVID19. We hope you have all been keeping safe and well during this phase of the lockdown.
We have been closely reviewing updates from the Government and can confirm that we are now working hard to reopen the gardens, as soon as it is safe to do so. It's great to see that Trentham Garden Centre and Cadwaladers have already reopened within Government guidelines.
There are several measures we must put in place prior to opening, to ensure we are keeping our staff safe whilst working. Initially, we will restrict access to our existing members who will be allowed access for the purposes of exercise. We are also implementing a restriction on capacity which will help support social distancing and provide an environment to allow you to visit safely. This may mean that members would need to pre-book an arrival time and use a numbered queuing system on arrival to help us manage capacity. We would ask that you please email us with enquiries relating to renewals and extension of membership, rather than chatting at the desk. Although our welcome team have missed you, they will be focused on ensuring social distance is maintained and the smooth operation of contactless admissions and card payments only.
If your membership has expired whilst we have been closed, we will automatically extend your expiry date for the months you have lost. We will not issue a new card, but you cannot use your membership number to book a pre-arrival slot, until you have received a Reactivation of Membership email from us. This email will confirm your new expiry date. Please be patient, as this is quite a complex task to undertake and might take time. It's important we have an email linked to your membership to facilitate this, please register here.
It is likely that facilities will be restricted in the initial phase of reopening, the south entrance and lakeside café will remain closed. Hours of opening will be 9am – 6pm with last admission 5pm. Car parking spaces will be restricted. The play area, the maze, the barefoot walk and the viewing platform will all be out of use. A one-way system will be operational, we will publish a map for you to check before visiting. There will be restricted numbers allowed in a reduced number of toilet facilities, which will have a socially distanced queuing system in place, and will be attended and cleaned constantly during our opening hours. In step one of the re-opening we must remind people not to gather, or meet any more than one other person, not from their household. Please do keep all dogs on a short lead. We are working with several of our cafes, to provide some take away drink and food provision and are spacing out open air picnic tables. However, you may wish to bring your own refreshments with you. A separate exit route over the white bridge (by the Garden Centre) will be introduced.
