May Half Term at Trentham
Enjoy a fun packed family day out at Trentham this May Half Term week, with plenty of exciting adventures to discover in the gardens and shopping village. You can find new Fairies, build sandcastles, get crafty in the shopping village, help save the monkeys and enjoy a treetop adventure.
What's On at Trentham Gardens
Can you spot the new Fairy visitors?
'Potty' and 'Whimsy' have flown in to help our gardeners prepare for the busy season ahead and join their friends on the Fairy Trail. Potty is enjoying her role and you can see her helping to prepare the meadow area next to the train shed, ready for when it bursts into life this summer. Whimsy is helping out too but she's a little harder to find. Can you spot her on your visit? We hear she's quite a fan of the Italian Gardens.
Find your own adventure
A variety of exotic creatures, from the guys at Critterish Allsorts, will visit the gardens - all tame and handle-able! Come along, meet the critters and learn all about them! This activity is available on Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 May.
The Barefoot Walk is now open and ready for you to start stomping through the mud, bark and pebbles. It's therapeutic too, which is the perfect way to get parents and grandparents knee high in mud!
Head to the adventure playground where you can tackle the assault course, fly high on the swings and build castles in the sand play area. If that's not enough you can work your way through the Hornbeam maze.
Trentham is a wildlife haven so keep your eyes peeled for the black swans, cygnets, goslings and ducklings who are enjoying the lakeside views in the gardens. Discover galloping deer and a fox creeping through the undergrowth as part of a Nature in Bronze wildlife sculptures installation or look out for the wood carvings by Andy Burgess which include diving otters, stag beetles and a kingfisher.
Take a boat and train ride
Set sail on our our electrically-powered, ecologically friendly, 42 seat catamaran, just the ticket for a peaceful jaunt and a chance to take in the views of the islands. The 'Miss Elizabeth' leaves every hour from the North Jetty in the morning and half past the hour in the afternoon. Just after you’ve crossed the bridge upon entering the gardens, turn left and follow the Lakeside Walk for 5 minutes. Next to 'Miss Elizabeth' is the Trentham Fern, the garden's very own miniature train. Enjoy a little train trip along the east side of the lakeside, and back again, on May weekends, Bank Holiday Mondays and May half term week.
