Wildlife Wednesday 🦆🌿
A splash of wild colour from around the estate this week!
📸 Mandarin Ducks have been spotted along the River Trent, adding a flash of colour to the riverside. Thanks to Alan Barlow for sharing this beautiful photograph, taken from the Kingfisher & Otter Hide.
🌸 On the eastern side of the lake, we discovered what we believe to be a Northern Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza purpurella). A real treat to find, now protected with a weld mesh collar to help it thrive.
💛 Also brightening up the wilder corners of the gardens is Fox-and-Cubs (Pilosella aurantiaca). Often thought of as a weed, this vibrant wildflower creates beautiful bursts of orange and yellow across the landscape, as shown in the example image.
