As butterfly season winds down, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the stunning species spotted at Trentham this year: Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Green-veined White, Small Tortoiseshell, and the Meadow Brown. 🦋
It’s been a fantastic year for butterflies - our lakeside and gardens have been alive with pollinator activity. Don`t miss our top spots to catch a glimpse - the lavender beds in the Upper Italian Gardens, bramble bushes along the lakeside buffer zone, and the summer meadow beds near the lake - especially around the bright yellow Achillea flowers. And don’t miss the wild Buddleia (aka ‘butterfly bushes’) growing around the estate and riverbeds - non-native, but a favourite for our fluttering visitors. 🌿
