Things to do this May Half Term

The Trentham Estate is the perfect place to spend the May Half Term School Holidays

With gardens, shopping, monkeys and high rope adventure, all in one central location, and ample free parking.

Trentham Gardens

Go wild in the great outdoors

Trentham Gardens is the perfect place for families who love to go wild in the great outdoors during the half term holidays. With the brand new toddler area children can make their own pirate adventure, get creative building sandcastles, ride the springy bees and slide down the activity tower. The new area has a nautical and natural theme with activity boats on a sea of sand.

Children can also tackle the assault course, zoom down the zip wire, fly high on the swings and ascend to the top of the hide and speak maze. Invite the whole family to get naked from the knees down and tantalise their toes on the new textures of the barefoot walk.

Nature lovers will love the activities happening in the gardens over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Meet the animals of Critterish Allsorts, build a home to help your bugs with help from the RSPB, get active in the woodland and learn how to build dens and forage for food with Wilderness Survival Skills. On the 3-4 June Staffordshire Wildlife Trust will be here helping you to discover the minibeasts that live at Trentham, make natural land art and find signs of summer in the gardens.

Take a Trip

Take our boat the ’Miss Elizabeth’ across Trentham Lake and enjoy the views of the surrounding woodland. You will also be able to spot the herons and swans which live on the island.

Discover the story of the Gardens

On the 28 May join a member of our Gardens Team and discover the planting combinations in the trellis walk and rose border. These tours give a great insight of the story of the gardens and the hard work that our gardeners do throughout the year. The Trellis Walk is 100 metres in length, and covered in scented florals, including Wysteria. The Trellis separates The Italian Garden from Piet Oudolf’s schemes in the Eastern Pleasure Ground. This is a popular spot for sculpture, both ancient and modern. Places are limited to 30, and are available from 1pm, on a first-come, first-served basis.
