Something for everyone...
Miss Elizabeth at Trentham lake

Take a Boat Trip

All aboard the Miss Elizabeth boat at Trentham Gardens

She’s our electrically-powered, ecologically friendly, 42 seat catamaran, and is just the ticket for a peaceful jaunt. The Miss Elizabeth runs 5 days a week in summer, and on selected weekends throughout winter.

She sets sail on the hour every hour from the North Jetty. Just after you’ve crossed the bridge upon entering the gardens, turn left and follow the Lakeside Walk for 5 minutes. You can buy tickets at the Gardens Entrance, or on board from our Captain.

Single Trip - £2.00 Per Person

Annual Ticket Holder Discount - £1.50 Per Person

Guided Cruise Round Trip 1pm Everyday - £3.00 Per Person

A ticket (in addition to garden admission, seasonal variations apply), buys you a one-way trip to the far south of the mile-long lake. She docks at the Lakeside Cafe. You can choose to take a lovely stroll back along either side of the lake, or simply sail back to the North Jetty again! Or if you prefer, follow the Lakeside Walk (either way round - it’s a circular walk!) to the Lakeside Cafe, and catch the boat back, she sets sail every hour on the half hour.

Also available from the North Jetty is the Trentham Fern, our miniature passenger train. Take a ride as it chuffs alongside the lake and look out for special appearances from the Trentham Fern’s friend the steam train (check timetable for operating days).

If you wish to disembark at either Jetty you can take the lakeside walk which takes you aside the River Trent, by the bird hide, through the Capability Brown cascading weir and along atmospheric woodland trails. Enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake at the Italian Garden Tearoom or the Lakeside café, both have stunning views of the lake. Outside of the gardens the Trentham Shopping Village has over 50 enticing shops and 14 cafes housed in timber cabins making it a unique shopping and eating experience.

Once you have enjoyed your boat trip head to the stunning Italian Gardens which were revived by Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medallist Tim Stuart-Smith and are one of the largest contemporary perennial plantings in Europe. Take the fairy trail and keep your eyes peeled as you walk around our beautiful mile long lake, and through the woodland, maze and gardens where the fairies live.

There’s also the exciting adventure playground where children can tackle the assault course, fly down the zip wire, get creative in the sand pits, climb the nets, test their driving skills or get lost in the hide and speak maze. During the spring, summer and autumn months you can go naked from the knees down on our barefoot walk.

Please note that the operation of the boat is weather dependent, and she can be removed from the activitiy programme without notice at any time.
