Volunteer at Trentham Gardens

Volunteer at Trentham Gardens

Trentham has a team of 30 volunteers, who help maintain the stunning gardens at Trentham. Come along to our open day to find out more about volunteering at Trentham. There are 3 areas of the garden you can look to work on including the Italian Gardens, Meadow and Woodland area and the Eastern Pleasure Garden.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener, or just have an interest and want to learn more, Trentham needs you!

You’ll learn a range of gardening skills within a historical landscape setting with contemporary planting schemes. There are a range of jobs you’ll undertake as a volunteer for Trentham Gardens. Gardening skills are not essential as we will support and develop these with you.

Here you will be guided by Senior Craft Gardener Jo Fawcett through a range of seasonal maintenance jobs working on planting schemes including Tom Stuart Smith’s perennial schemes, Piet Oudolf’s long borders, and our David Austin Border and trellis walk clothed with climbers including Wisteria and Roses. Pick up gardening skills and experience, meet new friends and enjoy the amazing views of the lake. Come for a morning or bring a packed lunch and make a day of it. We have induction days on these dates:

Tuesday 18th April
Tuesday 18th July

You could be involved in anything from clearing new areas ready for new schemes created by Professor Nigel Dunnett, conservation activities like creating wildlife habitats, planting new perennial plants or our new magnolia and tree collections, as well as seasonal maintenance tasks like mulching and weeding. We are looking for Volunteers to join our team working on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. We have induction days on these dates:

Thursday 4th May
Friday 19th May
Thursday 22nd June

Eastern Pleasure Garden Volunteer Days

Are you interested in volunteering on Wednesdays and keen to learn about Piet Oudolf’s inspirational perennial schemes in our Eastern Pleasure gardens? If so, get hands on in a range of perennial garden seasonal maintenance jobs with Senior Craft Gardener Danny Wilcockson. We have induction days on these dates:
