Treat Mum this Mother’s Day
26 February 2013

Where else can you find that special gift and then treat mum to a free day out at one of Britain’s most visited gardens, be enchanted by fairies, amazed by monkey mothers... and have a go at a high ropes adventure course.
There’s a reason The Trentham Estate is among Britain’s most diverse days out and for Mother’s Day there are some extra special attractions at the 725-acre estate.
Before the big day, Trentham Shopping Village offers a chance to pick out that perfect gift for mum, thanks for its mix of familiar names and boutique stores selling a wide range of products.
There’s unique hand made gift cards at Yellowstone Art Boutique, colourful and comfortable footwear from Moshulu, a personalised celebration tipple of vodka from Vom Fass, retro champagne glasses from The Perfect Setting at Steelite, an aromatic treat from Bath and Body or some “Dawn Chorus” from Portmeirion (pictured) as well as a host of other store options too.
And for Mother’s Day itself, Sunday 10th March, you can treat mum to a day to remember from free entry to the glorious Trentham Gardens with the stunning Italian Gardens, woodland and lake... and with a little added magic thanks to the beautiful sculptures that make up the new Fairy Trail at the bottom of the gardens!
Or how about treating her to a bit of an adrenaline buzz? As well as free entry to the gardens, mums get free entry to high ropes adventure Aerial Extreme (mums go free at both attractions when accompanied by any other full paying guest).
With free parking and more than 14 cafes and restaurants to choose from, you can also treat mum to a hearty breakfast or a lunch to suit all tastes from traditional fish and chips to Mediterranean favourites such as a special Mother’s Day Italian lunch at Terrazzo del Giardino.
There’s also the chance to see some monkey mums at Trentham Monkey Forest, where visitors can learn more about the family life of these fascinating creatures (included with normal admission charge). The unique attraction offers a walk through 60 acres of woodland and meadows where 140 Barbary macaques live in total freedom.
The Staffordshire estate has undergone a massive regeneration programme over the last 8 years and at its heart is the award winning Trentham Gardens, complete with children’s adventure play area just right for letting mum relax while the kids play.
While the gardens have matured into some of the finest in Britain, there are also woodland walks, a chance to take a gentle cruise along the mile-long lake on Trentham’s own passenger boat or sit astride the miniature train and steam along the lakeside and back.
And if you fancy turning Mum’s Day into a Mum’s Weekend, there’s even a 119-bedroom Premier Inn hotel right on site.

The Trentham Estate, on the edge of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, offers one of the UK’s most diverse days out with a range of leisure activities for all ages. Owned by St. Modwen Properties PLC, the UK’s leading regenration specialist, the 725-acre Estate - which was previously owned for over 400 years by the Dukes of Sutherland - has undergone a massive regeneration programme since 2003. It boasts the famous Trentham Gardens, including the very important Italianate Gardens designed by Charles Barry in the 1830s that have been lovingly restored using top landscape designers. The gardens feature the UK’s first ’barefoot’ walk, a great children’s adventure play area and maze and a beautiful walk around the mile long lake; the Trentham Garden Centre and Shopping Village, an eclectic mix of shops and eateries; Trentham Monkey Forest - home to 140 endangered Barbary macaques; Aerial Extreme, an exhilarating treetop high rope adventure course, and a 119-bedroom Premier Inn Hotel.
