Something for everyone...

This is a Mummy's Happy Place

Posted on 17 March 20174 Comments

My name is Kerri-Ann and I am a mummy to a beautiful boy, Lil G, 5 and married to my husband Simon. My haven, our haven is Trentham Gardens.

Our Little Family have enjoyed exploring all that the Gardens has to offer for almost five years now, whether we visit weekly, monthly come rain or shine we continue to enjoy the tranquillity of the Gardens. Each year we renew our annual passes without hesitation, we find the most cost effective way is to use our Tesco Clubcard Vouchers which we transfer into days out vouchers.

Enjoy life at a slower pace...

Amid the madness, the craziness and the chaos of modern day life that we all get drawn into, is desire, a yearning, a need to remember who we really are. As a busy working mummy, where week days run by military precision what I enjoy most about a weekend is enjoying life at a slower pace.

I love these days so much, cocooned in our little family bubble is the best place to be. This is why it is so necessary to have a haven, a place where time goes by at nature’s pace, a place where you can unwind, a place where you can let your imagination roam free and most important to me, a place I can make memories with my family.

Time spent together is worth every second. I love my days where it is just us. When life slows down, when the days are filled with blanket picnics, laughter, kisses and if we’re lucky tea and cake. The biggest challenge I always face when planning a day out is finding a place to visit that we will all enjoy, and so I thought I’d share with you our go to attraction in Stoke-on-Trent. If you ask our gorgeous boy what he would like to do on a weekend, come rain or shine you will get one of two answers; Trentham Gardens or the beach. Trentham Gardens is our happy place.

Fun for the whole family

For a day out with the family, there is no better place in Staffordshire, after five years of visiting almost weekly with our annual pass, you can trust in me that you will not be disappointed. Unlike so many places, Trentham is unique in its ability to entertain all the family, and if truth be told I love sneaking off for a visit all of my own. From our five-year-old to his 73 year old Nanny we all love our regular visits, just don’t tell Lil G that I sneak in without him. I get to enjoy all of the little things I love whilst they’re off playing football or building a den.

Like a good friend, Trentham Gardens is a place to spend time for any reason or no reason. If you are feeling reflective on a summer’s afternoon, sit on the terrace of the Totally Delicious café with a cup of tea, the warm breeze on your face and peer into the distance. This is the perfect end to a summer’s amble through the wild flower meadow, where you can’t help but feel you have stepped in to a Monet’s Field of Poppies painting - once through the meadow, take in a deep breath and gaze across the lake where you will find yourself surrounded by the most magical and truly fascinating 15 foot dandelion sculptures.

Wait, there’s more…

If you feel spritely on a cold winter’s morning, dress the family up and march around the lake, hugging a cup of hot chocolate whilst completing the fairy trail. If you are feeling playful, enjoy laughter and adventure in the garden maze or lastly enjoy a traditional Sunday Roast dinner at the cottage style decorated Joe’s Kitchen where children are welcomed with open arms and the drinks are served in mason jars.

These are a few of my favourite things to do at Trentham Gardens, I’d like to say that I enjoy visiting most in the summer time, quite simply that isn’t the case, I love to visit all year round. The mystery of the winter, the bright colours of summer and the magic of Autumn as you see the seasons change before your eyes leaves me with no choice other than to renew our annual passes again in April.

Give the gift of memories this Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day this year why not treat your much loved mummy to a day out at Trentham Gardens. I love that I can look back on each visit and I am instantly transported right back to a moment in time, that often holds a memory of something as ordinary as a day out, one of simple pleasures but where my mummy heart is overflowing.

A day well spent at Trentham Gardens, brings a week of content.

You can follow more of Kerri-Ann’s adventures on her ‘Life as our Little Family’ blog, Facebook, Twitter and on Instagram.

Oh wow Kerri-Ann it sounds and looks beautiful. Such an array of things to keep everyone interested-the nature, the views, the food and drink and all the memories to be made. I'm now on the search for somewhere just like this down south x

Having never heard of this place until you took us there, I am so impressed with it. We can't wait to go back. I have always loved seeing your amazing adventures with lil G there and there truly is SO much to do too. It's a stunning place for families indeed! It's worth the hour drive for me every time. Gorgeous photos!!!
