Yesterday, @TomStuartSmith spent the day walking the team through the design of Phase 1 of Italian Gardens - The Next Chapter, and planted the very first plant into the sand and grit mix himself! 🌱
Following his visit, planting officially began! The gardeners got stuck in in the afternoon, and next week they’ll be joined by students from Rodbaston and @ReaseheathCollege, giving them hands-on experience as part of their training. ✨

Autumn at Trentham is ablaze with reds, oranges, and browns as the leaves begin to fall. But look closely - and you might spot a flash of vibrant green! 🍂
Meet the Ring-necked Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) 🦜- acid-green, long-tailed, red-billed, and impossible to miss.
Originally from Africa and southern Asia, this exotic visitor is now the UK’s only naturalised parrot, with thriving breeding colonies even as far north as Scotland! Escaped or released from captivity, they’ve adapted well - likely thanks to our warmer winters. 🦜
Although there are concerns about competition for nesting sites and food with the UK’s native birds, nothing has been proven and this exotic bird makes for an interesting sight when out and about at Trentham!
